Le tennis a de plus en plus de succès malgré la rusticité du court qui est regoudronné en 1950. A partir de 1949 est organisé tous les ans un tournoi qui rassemble un nombre très important de joueurs. C’est le début d’une grande tradition avec à son apogée, dans les années 70-80, de grands doubles mixtes surprises légendaires, avec des foules en délires, des déguisements improbables, des lots formidables, des rencontres, du sport et du rire. Les files d’attente sur le court sont telles que les enfants ne peuvent jouer qu’entre 13 et 17 heures ; des tranches horaires sont établies pour permettre à tous d’avoir son petit moment de tennis.
